Welcome to Shepherd’s Flock!

Child care led by Grace.

Shepherd’s Flock is an intergenerational child care center that has been lovingly serving Arlington Heights families since 1997. Conveniently located on the Lutheran Home campus, we provide professional child care and developmentally informed education in a faith-filled, intergenerational environment for children aged six weeks up until kindergarten.

Our hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. To inquire about availability in our programs, call (847) 368-7391 or fill out the inquiry form below.

A curriculum that cares.

Shepherd’s Flock is proud to offer a developmental child care program geared toward building a positive self-image in the child. We place an emphasis on developing spiritual, social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills through self-led play. Low, open shelving is used to spark inspiration and imagination, creating learning centers of art, blocks, science, math, manipulative games, dramatic play, music, books and language. We encourage children to freely explore and then initiate their own activities.

We also provide Christian Education as part of the daily curriculum through Bible stories and related music and crafts. Teacher-child relationships are geared to provide an atmosphere of love and understanding, while emphasizing the welfare and personality development of each child and their family.

Programming

Our program welcomes children of all backgrounds, and ministers to the whole child in the following ways:

  • Spiritually, by teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ through grace.
  • Emotionally, by encouraging positive self-esteem through a stable atmosphere of love, affirmation and understanding offered by staff, volunteers and residents of Lutheran Home.
  • Intellectually, by stimulating intellectual growth through an age-appropriate curriculum including experiences in art, math, science, language, literature, social studies, music, movement and cooking.
  • Physically, by providing safe, clean and healthy environments where teachers provide learning experiences that encourage physical movement and growth.
  • Socially, by encouraging attitudes of cooperation and respect for one another and providing opportunities to make new friends, both young and old.
Fun for all

Fun for all ages.

Shepherd’s Flock partners with Lutheran Home residents for group activities. Both younger and older participants love spending time together, and many forge lasting friendships. From trick or treating in the fall to picnics and parades in the summer, our cohort of volunteer grandmas and grandpas always makes the day more special. Intergenerational programs are designed in accordance with the guidelines established by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
