Christmas Gift

Your thoughtful gift helps us support our mission of empowering vibrant, Grace-Filled living across all generations. Some are able to give much, some are able to give only a little. Whatever the size of the gift, Lutheran Life Communities honors the giver. Thank you for your support.

As we move into our 135th year of providing Christian care in Illinois and NW Indiana, we pause to give thanks for Christmas and what it represents for our residents, their families, and our team members. The birth of Christ was an event that changed the world.  Through centuries of tradition, the ministry of Christ is alive and well at the Lutheran Home, Luther Oaks, Pleasant View, and Wittenberg Village.  These communities represent the best in care and hospitality provided in a setting of spiritual support and encouragement. This coming month we will add a Dialysis Center at the Lutheran Home which will extend the number of services we are able to provide the residents. A trip to a freestanding dialysis center is a tough task for residents in nursing care. By bringing dialysis
in-house, we eliminate unnecessary ambulance trips in harsh weather while making the lives of our residents more manageable.  Lutheran Home has invested almost $300,000 in our new dialysis center, and we hope that you can join us in supporting this life-changing addition to the Lutheran Home.

In past years, we have asked for support of our benevolence program; we are pleased if you wish to do so again this year. We want to offer two options for our Annual Christmas Appeal; both are worthy of consideration. In 135 years, no residents have ever been asked to leave a Lutheran Life Community should they run short of funds through no fault of their own. The benevolence of you and others like you make it possible to make this promise as we move forward.
Our benevolent fund, the Pastor David Abrahamson Fund for Benevolent and Spiritual Care, is what sets us apart from other communities in the area. Older people often face harsh financial realities as they struggle to care for their spouse or themselves. At Lutheran Life Communities we can minimize the financial struggle for residents with our funding of benevolent care.

So today we bring to you two options for giving: The Dialysis Center at the Lutheran Home or the Abrahamson Fund for benevolent care. Whichever you select, one, the other, or both, know that your Christmas gift to seniors will be appreciated and valued. We urge you to find it in your hearts to remember the Lutheran Home, Luther Oaks, Pleasant View, and Wittenberg Village this holiday season.

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas.

“Freely you have received, freely give.”
